About Empwr
Who we are
The team behind the Empwr conference is a non-profit organization called EDBA - the Empwr Disability in Business Association. EDBA is run by a 2023 graduate of UNC Chapel Hill Kenan-Flagler Business School's Full-Time MBA Program.
The idea for Empwr
Empwr started as a "What if?" conversation among Kenan-Flagler MBA students in early 2022. What if there was a better way for business students in the disability community to showcase their talents? What if there was a recruiting environment where disability was seen as a valuable dimension of diversity rather than a burden? What if... those students planned a diversity recruiting conference?

Through the boldness and dedication of those student leaders, that "What if?" became Empwr - the first national effort to bring disability self-advocates and allies from U.S. business schools together with top employers.
